Max Gaisser (22 June 1857 in Augsburg † 20 July 1922 in Munich) was a German representative of "narrative painting" (genre painting).
Signed: "Max Gaisser" (lower left) and "Gaisser" on back.
After briefly attending the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich from 1869 to 1871,[1] Max Gaisser acquired the foundations of his artistic education from his father Jakob Emanuel Gaisser. On 1 May 1873, he entered the classical studies class of the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich, where he trained as a painter under Ludwig Löfftz (1845-1910), among others. He undertook study trips to France (Paris), Italy, Holland and Belgium. Max Gaisser was initially registered at various addresses in Munich. On the death of his father in 1899, he inherited his father's house in Pasing near Munich and settled there permanently with his wife Wilhelmine (maiden name unknown); the marriage remained childless. He died after a long period of suffering at the age of 66 and was buried in the old part of the Munich Waldfriedhof.
