From Grange's Louis Philippe line, this gorgeous piece was manufactured in France of solid cherrywood and hand-selected, matched cherrywood veneers. A luminous waxed patina results from a manual eleven-step finishing process. Quality craftmanship is apparent in the dovetail joints, tenoned and pegged door frames, and carved molding. Top portion with two pocket doors, bottom portion with four drawers.
Purchased from Bloomingdales in 2002 for $3,600. I love this piece, but have moved to a new home where there isn't a spot for it. My loss is your gain!
Original design intended the top compartment be used as a TV cabinet. There is a moving platform installed there to hold the TV, and an opening in the back for cables. It would be easy to install a hanging rod for clothes hangers instead.
