This is old New York: civic stone, open sky, horse-drawn sleighs, children at play beneath municipal statuary. Skaters sweep across pale ice in looping arcs, while brick façades and rhythmic windows create a structured urban backdrop. The perspective is intentionally flattened, in keeping with mid-century American folk painting traditions — architectural detail simplified into pattern, repetition, and movement rather than strict realism.
