Description
Striking large-scale handwoven vintage basket with an architectural domed form and beautiful aged patina. Crafted from natural split reed or rattan, the open lattice weave creates an airy sculptural presence while maintaining strength and functionality.
The distinctive circular opening at the base and radiating weave suggest it was originally made as a market, agricultural, or storage basket, possibly for produce, textiles, or transport or possibly an Asian fish trap. Today it functions exceptionally well as a decorative object due to its impressive scale and organic texture.
A wonderful example of rustic craftsmanship that works equally well in traditional, coastal, wabi-sabi, or modern collected interiors.
