Materials: alabaster. The aqua fossil side table by amarist studio is carved from a single block of alabaster, shaped to petrify the natural movement of water into a sculptural drop. The surface of the piece captures a suspended moment, where fluidity is frozen and transformed into matter. By treating the stone as a plastic, moldable material, the carving process reveals water as a fundamental element within the molecular composition of alabaster. The resulting form presents the stone as a liquid body, oscillating between solidity and motion. Each block is manually selected at the quarry, reinforcing the singular character of the piece and its direct connection to the geological origin of the material. See less
