Aqua fossil mirrors are a set of two sculptural mirrors carved from a single block of alabaster, a sedimentary stone formed millions of years ago through the evaporation of an ancient sea. Their translucent surface reveals water as an essential element embedded in the material's geological origin. The series explores fluid, organic compositions that move away from traditional alabaster carving, treating the material as a malleable, almost liquid substance. Each mirror is conceived as a fossilized fragment emerging from a former seabed4an object shaped by time, erosion, and evaporation, where water is transformed into stone and reflection. Based in the pyrenees, amarist studio works from a context closely connected to stone, territory, and slow natural dynamics.
