Materials: alabaster. This unique sculpture was created for the aqua fossil exhibition at the pablo serrano museum (spain). The sculpted alabaster embodies water in a fossilized state. Its continuous, fluid line freezes the instant of a stream flowing in motion, capturing the tension between movement and stillness. In contrast, the concrete element represents humanity's footprint on the environment4an artificial intervention that interrupts and redirects natural flows. The piece can be read as a fragile balance of coexistence: liquid water attempting to follow its natural path while encountering imposed barriers. Within the conceptual future proposed by aqua fossil, concrete becomes an archaeological trace of human presence, our remnants lying beside the fossilized testimonies of the water that once shaped the landscape. Based in the pyrenees, amarist studio works from a context closely connected to stone, territory, and slow natural dynamics. This environment informs the studio’s sensitivity toward equilibrium, transformation, and the passage of time. Amarist’s works—including sculptures, mirrors, lighting pieces, and tables—are conceived as functional objects with a strong sculptural presence. Beyond their formal qualities, they propose a reflection on environmental transformation and on the fragile balance between matter, memory, and time.
