Late 19th-century Dutch ceramic table lamp with hand-decorated Chinoiserie panels from an original Petrus Regout ginger jar with a new tailored custom lampshade. Professionally wired with a fabric-wrapped cord and fitted for immediate use; supplied with a US plug or adapted for your country of use.
This refined table lamp was hand-crafted from an antique Petrus Regout & Co. ceramic vase produced in Maastricht in the late 19th century and hand-decorated in a richly detailed Chinoiserie scheme. Founded in the 19th century, Petrus Regout was among the most influential ceramic manufacturers in Europe, supplying finely decorated wares that bridged industrial innovation and traditional hand craftsmanship.
The baluster-shaped ceramic body is decorated with framed vignettes depicting stylized landscapes, pavilions, and foliate motifs, interspersed with scrolling botanicals and geometric banding. The palette—ivory ground with black linework, ochre, celadon green, muted turquoise, soft red, and pale blue—reflects the late-19th-century European interpretation of East Asian decorative arts. While likely executed over a printed or transfer base, the surface shows extensive hand-painting, giving the decoration depth, variation, and a distinctly artisanal character.
The lamp is topped with a newly made cylindrical silk shade in a warm ivory tone, woven with a subtle repeating scallop pattern in soft gold. The shade’s palette harmonizes with the ceramic decoration while allowing the painted surface to remain the focal point.
This piece has been converted into a lamp by Amitābha Studio, using non-invasive methods that preserve the integrity of the original ceramic form. The result is a functional lighting object that balances historic European ceramics with thoughtful contemporary presentation.
An ideal choice for collectors of European ceramics, chinoiserie interiors, or designers seeking a singular statement lamp with genuine 19th-century provenance. Equally at home in traditional, eclectic, or curated contemporary settings. This piece has an attribution mark,
