This charming Colonial Revival interior scene depicts an early American room with period furnishings, braided rugs, and figures dressed in historical attire. Nutting’s delicate hand-applied color enhances the warmth of the wood furnishings and soft blue drapery, creating the nostalgic atmosphere for which his work is celebrated.

The photograph is both pencil titled at lower left and signed “Wallace Nutting” at lower right, an appealing detail for collectors. Wallace Nutting (1861–1941) was one of the most widely collected photographers of the early 20th century.
