Created in 1927 for the villa tugendhat, the mr table is one of the first iconic pieces in the eponymous collection designed by ludwig mies van der rohe. Since 1977, it has been produced by knoll, guaranteeing its authenticity and timeless quality.
this round coffee table brilliantly embodies the principles of modernism: clean lines, noble materials, and a perfect balance between form and function. Its minimalist, chromed steel tubular structure supports a seamlessly integrated, transparent anthracite smoked glass top. A masterpiece of 20th-century design, the mr table reflects the radical vision of mies van der rohe, the pioneering german-american architect and designer, who championed simplicity as a vehicle for beauty. The knoll label, still visible on the piece, attests to its origin and heritage value.
ludwig mies van der rohe (1886–1969) was a german-american architect and designer considered one of the fathers of modernism. Trained by leading german architects, he developed a style based on simplicity, structural rigor, and the use of industrial materials such as steel and glass. The last director of the bauhaus before its closure, he emigrated to the united states in 1938, where he profoundly influenced american architecture by directing the iit and designing iconic buildings such as the seagram building. His famous principle, "less is more," encapsulates his lasting influence on 20th-century architecture and design.
villa tugendhat, built between 1928 and 1930 in brno by ludwig mies van der rohe, is a masterpiece of modernism. It is distinguished by its steel structure, its immense glass walls, and its vast open-plan living space overlooking the garden. Luxurious materials, custom-designed furniture, and minimalist architecture make this a manifesto of mies van der rohe's style. A unesco world heritage site, it remains one of the most iconic houses of the 20th century.
