author giuseppe bogliani (padua, 1871 – chieri, 1954) was an italian painter active in the 20th century, mainly in piedmont. Born in padua, he moved to piedmont where he spent most of his life, dying in chieri. He was a pupil and nephew of the painter lorenzo deleani, from whom he inherited a passion for nature and landscape, developing his own pictorial sensibility. He devoted himself mainly to landscape painting in the traditional 19th-century realist style, depicting rural subjects, pastures, pastoral scenes, fields, winters, and country landscapes with figures of shepherds or farmers, rendered with descriptive brushstrokes, attention to naturalistic details, and a lyrical and serene vein typical of piedmontese painting of the period. His works, almost always oils on canvas, panel, or cardboard of medium-small format, reflect an intimate and contemplative approach to the countryside.
