enter, if you will, the theatrical world of napoleon iii. Velvet curtains drawn, lights dimmed. Black as midnight, gilded like a parisian opera balcony, and crowned with luminous white carrara marble. This console table is très chic. Crafted around 1870, this console boasts a confident, stately presence. The ebonized wood provides a dramatic backdrop for the finely carved giltwood details, all highlighted with gold leaf that catches the light with every passing glance. The marble top, carved from white carrara marble, features a profiled edge and elegant curves. A refined counterpoint to the drama below. Contrast, after all, is everything.

the piece is in good, solid condition, with a few old repairs that have aged gracefully and are barely noticeable.
