Vintage Thai Lai Rot Nam gilded black lacquer Manimekhala wood art panel. Manimekhala is the Guardian Goddess of the Sea, and she is seen here playing a saw sam sai instrument. The Saw Sam Sai is a traditional bowed string instrument of Thailand. Lai rot nam (Thai: ลายรดน้ำ) or gilded black lacquer is a technique in the traditional Thai decorative arts consisting of the application of black lacquer with gold inlay to surfaces.
