It is a six board chest, simple … Read more Lovely handcrafted late 18th-Century English George III solid elm coffer with hinged lid. It is a six board chest, simple in design with the only embellishment a modestly carved trimmed edge along the sides and front of the lid. It retains the original iron lock plate, the wonderful surface and patina. The hinges were replaced many many years ago.

The coffer is functional as storage. It is sturdy and durable, considering it's age and w/ care serviceable for another 100+ years. It is in original condition, including structural stability and finish.. We would not advise it for seating. It has not been significantly altered, refinished, or repaired. The hinges were replaced and the iron plate remains the only part of the old lock. See less
