Original exhibition poster issued by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art for David Hockney: Travels with Pen, Pencils and Ink, November 30, 1977.
This poster was purchased directly at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art by my family while living in Tehran in the late 1970s and has remained in private collection since. It is an authentic, pre-Revolution museum-issued poster from a highly significant period in the museum’s history.
Western blue-chip artists exhibited in Iran prior to 1979 are exceptionally rare, making this an important crossover piece for collectors of Hockney, modern exhibition posters, and Middle Eastern modern art history.
Condition: Light creasing consistent with age and original storage; no restoration.
Unframed.
A scarce and historically significant example of 20th-century exhibition design.
