Italy, late 19th century origin italy period late 19th century author arnaldo tamburini (florence, 1853 – florence, 1908) was an italian-tuscan painter. Trained in florence, he made his debut in 1874 at the promotrice fiorentina with an impression from life, showing influences from tuscan chromatic naturalism. Although he began as a landscape painter, he established himself above all as a genre painter, creating humorous and lively scenes of everyday life, often with friars and monks in playful situations (drinking, games, leisure), rendered with a breezy brushstroke and strong light and color contrasts. In the 1890s he also devoted himself to portraiture, creating official portraits of vittorio emanuele ii and umberto i (preserved in the museum of san matteo, pisa), as well as private effigies. He participated in exhibitions such as the national exhibition of venice (1887) and the promotrice of genoa (1892). His works, today in private and museum collections, are present on the italian 19th-century antique market.
