author ugo nespolo (mosso, biella, 1941) is an italian artist and one of the leading figures in contemporary art. He trained at the accademia albertina di belle arti and the university of turin, entering the world of arte povera and turin conceptual art in the 1960s. His work spans painting, sculpture, collage, objects, and above all experimental cinema: since 1967, he has been making avant-garde films involving artists such as luciano fabro, enrico baj, michelangelo pistoletto, and allen ginsberg. His language is characterized by bold colors, clean shapes, irony, and references to futurism, pop culture, and graphic design. He has exhibited in museums and international biennials and has created important public works, set designs, and projects for major brands. He lives and works in turin and is considered one of the most recognizable and versatile artists on the italian art scene from the late 20th century to the present day.
