In 1972, Rosenthal expanded its activities beyond porcelain and introduced a dedicated furniture collection, manufactured in its own factory in Espelkamp, Germany. Under the Rosenthal Furniture label, the company collaborated with leading designers including Burkhard Vogtherr and Günter Ferdinand Ris. This program resulted in distinctive designs such as Vogtherr’s Hombre seating series and Ris’ Sunball globe chair, positioning Rosenthal as a design-driven furniture manufacturer during the 1970s.

The Hombre sofa is characterized by a solid wood frame with continuous sled-style legs and softly rounded armrests. Loose leather seat and back cushions are placed within the frame, clearly expressing the construction while offering a comfortable and relaxed seating experience.
