An authentic antique Tibetan Buddhist thangka depicting Green Tara, dating to the Qing Dynasty, late 18th to mid-19th century.
This finely painted devotional work was created using traditional mineral pigments and gold on cloth, and is preserved in its original silk brocade mounting, hand-stitched in the classical Tibetan manner. The harmonious palette, refined line work, and gentle aging reflect a thangka intended for private altar or temple use, rather than later decorative production.
Green Tara is shown in her iconic pose, with one leg extended in readiness to rise, symbolizing swift compassion, protection, and enlightened action. The lotus flowers, aureole, and cloud motifs adhere closely to orthodox Tibetan Buddhist iconography.
The silk brocade mount displays natural wear and soft fading consistent with age, while the painted image remains well preserved, with no evidence of modern repainting or restoration. The reverse retains traditional cloth backing and a handwritten Tibetan inscription, further supporting its authenticity and devotional origin.
This piece offers both spiritual presence and visual elegance, equally suitable for a contemplative interior, curated Asian art collection, or refined global design setting.
• Overall (including mounting): 16” H × 12” W
