Collectible Japanese fine decorative art, this elegant hand-painted Showa-period Nihonga four-panel byobu - traditional Japanese folding screen - is decorated … Read more Collectible Japanese fine decorative art, this elegant hand-painted Showa-period Nihonga four-panel byobu - traditional Japanese folding screen - is decorated with Hanaguruma (Flower Cart) motif, signed by artist “Soshun.” Hanaguruma depicts an ornate wooden cart overflowing with peonies, irises, wisteria, and chrysanthemums. The cart is painted and decorated with partial gilt embellishments and a pink rope. Made in the Nihonga school style and signed by artist “Soshun.” Ink and natural color pigments over a raw style, gold silk background. Set in an ebonized, lacquered frame with a silk brocade border. Provenance: Procured from a Korean estate in 1980. See less
