Artist Biography: Henry Mosler (American, 1841-1920) studied at the Düsseldorf Academy and in Paris. He exhibited at the Paris Salon and National Academy of Design. His works are held in major museum collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Mosler is particularly noted for his Civil War era paintings and sympathetic depictions of freed slaves and working people.
