A vintage Persian Hamadan gallery rug, hand-knotted in western Iran in the early 20th century. This elongated gallery-format rug showcases a deep navy blue field anchored by four large axially aligned medallions, creating a strong sense of rhythm and architectural balance along its length.
The surrounding field is animated with charming stylized bird motifs, a decorative element more commonly associated with Karabagh carpets from the Caucasus, reflecting the cross-cultural influences that occasionally appear in village Hamadan weavings. These whimsical yet graphic figures lend warmth, narrative interest, and visual texture to the composition.
The design is elegantly framed by a rich dark red border, completing the composition with contrast and depth while reinforcing the rug’s bold village character. Ideal for hallways, corridors, stair landings, kitchens, or long living spaces.
