1930's Original Oil on Board Still Life with Three Vessels by Artist John Newton
A beautiful interior scene depicting three earthy vessels alongside the unexpected detail of a single banana. Striking in its simplicity, this is a commanding and moody work with the most beautiful dark warm tones. Further complimented by fine details like the scalloped edges of the table and the shadow work on the vases. Housed in an equally stunning and substantial frame which has ornate carved wood and gilt details. Signed in the top left corner, John H. Newton, and signed and dated on the back, August 14, 1931. Just a few very minor surface marks, overall excellent vintage condition.
