The motif features stylised pine needles (matsuba), arranged in a rhythmic, graphic pattern that forms a golden frame around the tabletop. In Japan, the pine is a classic symbol of steadfastness, longevity, and elegance. The overall effect is both serene and powerful, with a distinctly luxurious presence.

A separate glass top sits above the lacquer to protect the surface. Both the lacquered tabletop and the glass show light signs of use consistent with age, but these are not distracting in everyday use and leave the character of the piece fully intact.
