For collectors of 20th-century italian art, we present a significant graphic work signed by the renowned sculptor luciano minguzzi. It is a color silkscreen on paper, dated 1967. The work is particularly interesting because it bears the penciled inscription "artist's proof" (p.a.) at the bottom left, indicating that it is a copy printed and personally approved by the artist, outside of the standard numbered edition.
mini bio: luciano minguzzi (bologna 1911 – milan 2004) born into an artistic family, minguzzi was one of the most important italian sculptors of the 20th century. His fame is linked to the creation of monumental works, including the fifth door of the milan cathedral and the "gate of good and evil" in st. Peter's basilica in the vatican. His style, initially figurative, evolved towards more expressionist and abstract forms, often exploring the human figure enclosed in geometric spaces or "cages."
subject and style: the work depicts two stylized figures inserted into a vertical geometric structure reminiscent of a cage or frame. The predominant colors are indigo blue, gray, and black, applied with backgrounds that recall the sculpture's volumes. The artist's signature "minguzzi 1967" is in pencil at the bottom right.
technical details and condition:
