The Cheerio lamp, designed by the Dessecker brothers in 1988 and produced in Germany, is composed of a vertical structure of slender metal rods resting on a circular base. A suspended paper diffuser is located in the center of the base. The overall effect evokes a graphic and airy construction, where the light appears to float in space. The fabric diffuses a soft, subdued light, contrasting with the linear rigor of the metal structure. It is equipped with the TipTronic system, allowing for touch-activated lighting.
The Cheerio exemplifies the poetic and experimental approach to lamps produced by Ingo Maurer in the late 1980s, blending lightweight engineering, visual balance, and a sculptural dimension.
