This contemporary painting belongs to You Are The One, an ongoing project by Moldovan-born artist Natasha Lelenco examining identity, communication and emotional codification in the digital age. Part of the subseries No Valid Name, this work shifts the focus away from the human face toward gesture itself, proposing the body as a primary interface of meaning before language, avatars or text. At the center of the composition appears an organic hand-like form inspired by Buddha’s hand citrus. Neither fully human nor purely vegetal, the shape operates as a hybrid sign: a natural object that immediately recalls a familiar digital gesture. The form echoes the visual logic of approval, acceptance or confirmation — a silent “yes” — evoking the simplified vocabulary of stickers, emojis and reaction icons that dominate contemporary communication. Surrounding the central figure, vertical vegetal elements rise from the dark ground, reinforcing a sense of organic presence and quiet ritual. These elements suggest an ecosystem rather than a stage, situating the gesture within a continuum of animal, vegetal and human life. In this context, communication is no longer linguistic but morphological: meaning emerges through resemblance, repetition and instant recognition. Across You Are The One, Lelenco investigates how identity becomes compressed into easily legible signs. In Sí a todo, this process is reversed. The digital symbol is traced back to its organic origin, revealing how contemporary visual language feeds on pre-existing bodily and natural forms. The work reflects on the loss of nuance in digital affirmation, where a complex response is reduced to a reflexive gesture — an automatic acceptance performed without deliberation. Executed in acrylic on panel mounted on a stretcher, the painting balances chromatic restraint with symbolic clarity. Designed to function as a standalone piece or in dialogue with other works from No Valid Name, it is particularly suited for collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, digital culture, and concept-driven explorations of communication.
