Inlaid to create a 3 d effect which it does beautifully - achieved with contrasting tones of straight grained American walnut. This really is a sensational bed. The plinth and arched bed head are banded in a thuya burr wood veneer, which is found high in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco (one of the only woods to be mentioned in the Bible and was praised by the Ancient Greeks and Romans) this creates a striking contrast to the main very pale olive wood veneer used for the main section of the plinth.
The bed has its original vono frame which fits together easily to create a very sturdy base for the custom made slatted base that we supply which slots inside the vono frame and provides an excellent support for your mattress (not supplied).
