Modeling clay and granular paste relief on a ping pong racket finished in acrylic, a compact mixed-media wall relief that evokes wind, sea and sudden light. This work repurposes a quotidian ping-pong racket as a support for a concentrated landscape study executed in modeling clay, granular modeling paste and layered acrylic. The handheld format is transformed into a wall-mounted relief where texture and pigment operate as primary means of narration: granular paste and clay create a coarse, meteorological ground while thin acrylic glazes and attenuated pink accents register transient atmospheric events. The piece functions simultaneously as object and image — a mixed-media wall relief that asks the viewer to reconceive familiar domestic tools as supports for pictorial and sculptural thought. Throughout the surface, the artist exploits the racket’s circular field to stage a seam between sky and sea, a horizon rendered through both relief and color. The tactile topography — ridges, craters, and scraped planes — references wave and cloud formations; the small suspended heart on a tiny swing introduces a figurative, almost theatrical counterpoint. Materials are handled with an economy of means: modeling clay provides volume and sculptural modeling; granular paste supplies micro-landscape and tactile variation; acrylic paint modulates tone and light. These elements recur across the work, producing a cohesion between technique and concept. Conceptually, the piece engages with themes central to the artist’s practice: transformation of the everyday, the porous boundary between play and reverie, and the translation of ephemeral weather into tactile form. By using a sporting object as pictorial plane, the work also comments on scale and intimacy — the domestic and the elemental coexist within an object small enough to be held yet designed to be hung. The work is supplied ready for wall display with low-profile hanging hardware; it is stable and archival in execution though its relief surface invites careful handling to preserve the delicate high points.
