Modeling clay and acrylic relief on a repurposed ping-pong racket, a compact mixed-media wall sculpture that stages sky, horizon and a suspended spherical element. This compact mixed-media wall relief uses a found ping-pong racket as its pictorial plane, transforming a familiar domestic object into a concise landscape-sculpture. Executed in modeling clay, acrylic paint and small sculptural elements, the surface presents a luminous sky rendered through layered glazes and delicate cloud passages while a white, suspended sphere intersects the picture plane, tethered by cord and suggesting both planet and buoy. The work foregrounds material tactility—soft modeled volumes, scored surfaces and gentle scraping—so that color and relief function together as narrative drivers. Technically, the piece is built from a thin substrate of modeling clay applied to the racket face, overpainted with multiple acrylic glazes to achieve depth of tone and atmospheric modulation. The spherical element is hand-formed and attached with cord that wraps across the face, creating a diagonal axis that animates the composition. Small painted figurative touches and the interplay of matte and satin finishes add points of intimacy against the larger sky field. Dimensions and format make the work ideal for close inspection; the relief invites viewers to consider how scale and found object alter perception. Conceptually, the work continues themes prominent in Vera Vizzi’s practice: the revalorization of everyday supports, the collision of play and reverie, and the conversion of ephemeral emotion into tangible, tactile forms. By choosing a sporting implement as support, the artist stages a productive friction between movement and stillness—between the racket’s intended use and its new life as picture and object. The suspended sphere and cord read as a small ritual of balance and risk, evoking flight, buoyancy and a delicate theatricality. Installation and display: supplied ready to hang with low-profile hardware; designed for indoor display.
