The wiring aboard when I purchased these was clearly in the neighborhood of a hundred years old, and has been fully replaced, with the addition of hi-lo on-line switches, which you can see in the photos. The spare but elegant styling of the standards and the feet speaks to a talented and artistic manufacturer.

I’ve cleaned up and waxed the metal. The “oil reservoirs” are brass with a black patina (original); one has a variety of dents which are difficult to see and have no impact on the functioning of this merely decorative element. One of the thumb screws which set the position of the arms against the standard was missing and I fashioned a device to replace it, using a brass ball which I patinated black.

The bulbs seen in these photos are 25 watt and will be included with the sale. More powerful incandescent bulbs of this design can be purchased. Depending on your intended use, install standard-shaped bulbs and buy small fabric or metal shades which clamp onto the bulbs. Or, install “harp” shade holders and fabric or other shades.
