An exceptionally refined watercolor portrait of a young lady by the distinguished Austrian painter Eduard Ender, one of the notable figures of the Viennese art scene of the 19th century. Ender was the brother of the renowned watercolorist Thomas Ender and worked between Vienna, Rome, and London, producing portraits and historical subjects for aristocratic and bourgeois patrons.

The work is signed “E. Ender” and displays all the characteristics of the artist’s mature portrait style: precise drawing, delicate modeling of the face, and a highly sensitive treatment of light and textiles. The young woman, dressed in white, is depicted with a calm, slightly introspective expression, creating an intimate and dignified atmosphere.
