Knigin (1942-2011) was a fascinating artist who worked in many media. A talented printmaker, he founded the world famous Chiron Press which was literally “ground zero” for the NYC Pop Art scene in the 60s and 70s, and made prints for Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Louise Nevelson, Larry Poons, Tom Wesselamn and more. This signed screenprint is part of the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum in NYC, and his works are in many important collections and museums worldwide. Haunting and evocative, it’s a super cool piece of neo-expressionistic Pop Art which will be a standout addition to your vintage or contemporary decor. Measures 23” x 31” unframed. Slight yellowing of paper and some staining from tape residue on upper edge of reverse. Pencil on reverse with a number and original price of $100, which in 1971 was a lot!!
