Set of Four Chinese Chippendale–Style Painted Faux Bamboo Armchairs, likely 20th century.
Constructed entirely of wood in a faux bamboo form and finished in a green painted surface. Each chair features an open back with a faux bamboo backrest beneath an arched crest rail, with molded bamboo nodes articulated throughout. Shaped arms in bamboo form rest on curved uprights, continuing the cohesive bamboo motif. Each retains a tight upholstered seat set within a bamboo-simulated seat frame. The chairs are raised on slightly splayed faux bamboo legs joined by bamboo-form stretchers. The overall design reflects the enduring influence of 18th-century Chinese Chippendale furniture, executed as a later revival emphasizing decorative chinoiserie appeal.
