This is an outstanding antique taupe linen centerpiece table runner exquisitely hand embroidered in autumn colors. Long stemmed yellow, orange and brown roses and rose buds in silk thread are nicely placed along the sides of the centerpiece leaving the center open for vases of flowers and candles. The green stems and leaves have “other level” detailed embroidery-some of the best I’ve seen. The embroidery is as perfect on the back as the front, which is a characteristic of the finest embroidery. See images. The scalloped edges are worked in a brown silk machine embroidery. In the early 20th century pre-cut linen was often sold by the yard to be embroidered later at home. Sometimes the pieces were already marked. Dimensions are 53.5” long and 17” wide.
