This is a stunning example of Italian Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design, probably dating back to the late 20th century.40s and mid-50s. Pieces like this often come from Lombardy,
in fact, its provenance from the Cantù Permanente confirms its provenance.
Design features
Herringbone veneer: The most striking feature is the book-matched veneer on the doors and drawer fronts. This creates a rhythmic "V" pattern, a hallmark of high-end Italian furniture of this era.
Glossy finish: the "wet" effect suggests a thick shellac lacquer,
typical of the time, which protects the wood and adds a formal and luxurious touch.
Floating aesthetics: the way the main body rests on tapered "spiked" legs
It gives it a lightness and elegance common to midcentury design.
Hardware: The black and brass bow tie-style drawer handles and the circular "ring" key are typical details of Italian hardware from the 50s.
Construction and materials
Main wood: The exterior is teak wood, which is known for its contrast of deep grain.
Whole wood with the use of a lighter and contrasting wood for the interior is a sign of higher quality.
Carpentry, dovetail joints can be seen on the drawers.
These look like they are machine-cut but hand-finished, indicating high-end production in the factory or workshop rather than a piece of furniture for the mass market.
Usage and Value
This piece is a "chiffonier" or a men's wardrobe. The upper section with the hanger rod is intended for
shirts or jackets, while the drawers underneath offer space for folded items.
Very good original conditions, ready to use. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
