A knife-edge rectangular accent pillow, made out of an Early 20th century Japanese Silk Obi.
The Obi is the long sash that wraps around a kimono to fasten it to the body. Through history, the Obi became a status symbol and a fashion statement in Japanese society, depending on the quality of the materials (especially silk), and the decorations embroidered in it.
The fabric used for this pillow cover is a 1920s black satin silk Obi, with a spectacular gold brocade, and floral decorations in red, green, pink and blue. Soft and thick raso silk, in immaculate condition for its long age.
The front of the 12" x 12.5 pillow is decorated, and the back is made in plain black silk.
Includes a brand new poly-dacron firm insert, shipped along with the pillow cover.
Also available is a rectangular bolster pillow in the same fabric
