In this case, the bronze serves as the base. The rim is adorned with further bronze decoration. Typical of Satsuma, the work depicts intricate and delicate Japanese figures and landscapes. The designs are also characterized by a form of decoration called moriage, a term used to describe the use of raised enamel seen on many Asian and Japanese ceramics. It was created around 90 years ago in the 19th century. See less
