This orangutan figure is by the German sculptor Kurtfritz Handel (1941–2016) and was cast at the Strassacker foundry. Handel was known for his characterful animal figures and also worked at the art foundry itself.
The piece is solidly crafted, clearly signed (“K. Handel”), and stamped with the Strassacker mark. The bronze has a dark patina and stands securely on a flat surface. Two integrated mounting lugs are located in the hollow base, for example, for mounting on a plinth or pedestal. This piece has an attribution mark,
