Dimensions: sideboard: 248 × 56 × 70 cm (width × depth × height)
this rare mid-century sideboard is from behr's renowned b-series and was designed by dieter waeckerlin in the late 1950s. Waeckerlin is one of the most important representatives of functionalist furniture design in the post-war period, and his designs significantly shaped the objective design language of german modernism.
the sideboard impresses with its clear, minimalist design, balanced proportions, and high-quality combination of materials. The exterior is finished with elegant teak veneer, while the interior is entirely in light maple veneer—a characteristic contrast typical of waeckerlin's designs.
behind the four hinged doors are spacious compartments, two integrated drawers, and additional storage elements, offering versatile storage options. The piece rests on a black steel frame, giving the sideboard a floating lightness and emphasizing its architectural character.
the b-series was manufactured by behr in osnabrück, germany, and is considered one of the most important german furniture lines of the 1950s. Due to the limited production numbers, original pieces from this series are particularly rare.
condition: very good, restored original condition. The surface has been professionally cleaned and refinished. Only a few small scratches and minimal age-related wear are visible, which do not detract from the overall appearance and underscore its authentic vintage character.
an exceptional collector's item of german mid-century design – ideal as a classic sideboard, credenza, or elegant tv unit.
