Felice Antonio Botta workshop – likely under the direction of Mario Botta. Important cylindrical lamp base in smoked acrylic glass, adorned with six chrome-plated metal bands, surmounted by a narrower cylinder holding the bulb cover. Bearing two labels: "Felice Antonio Botta Designer Florence Made in Italy 220 volt/150 w IP20 Class 1" and "Felice Antonio Botta Designer Florence/Italy". Circa 1980. Intention and Aesthetic References • Botta conceives of the lamp as a "being": head, body, feet, navel—a sculptural presence even when switched off. [ideat] • The name Shogun evokes the imagery of feudal Japan, likely influenced by the armor in Kurosawa's film "Ran."
