in vallauris, picasso discovered in suzanne ramié’s madoura studio a place conducive to experimentation. There, he rediscovered ceramics, a medium he had set aside for several decades, and began to explore new formal possibilities. With its anthropomorphic silhouette, pichet espagnol is rooted in a mediterranean imagination shaped by the artist’s iberian origins. The motifs, painted and incised on the light-colored clay, recall both the popular pottery of his childhood and the spontaneity of his line. At the boundary between functional object and sculpture, this pitcher asserts itself as a work of art in its own right. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
