A large and impressive pair of blanc de chine porcelain Chinese guardian lions / Foo Dogs / Shishi. Made from high-quality kaolin clay and fired at high temperatures to achieve a lustrous, translucent white color. These mythical lion like statues represent protection and wealth - as protectors of temples, palaces, and homes, symbolizing power, prosperity, and warding off evil spirits, traditionally placed in pairs (left and right facing) to represent yin and yang.
