Delpech , … Read more Here is a rare extra large Parian portrait bust of the mythological water nymph Clytie, modeled by C. Delpech , sculptor, in good antique condition, measuring a full 22” tall , with a few small flea bites underneath leaves , some roughness around socle edges, and age associated soiling , as pictured . This bust is quite common in the smaller sizes issued by the Art Unions of London, but very difficult to find in this the largest size made by the Copeland manufactory circa 1870’s. This bust is copied in the 19th century from the ancient Roman original now in the Vatican Museum. A wonderful parian bust and a fine addition for any collection of parian and every Anglophile.
