Here is a scarce and extremely handsome antique Victorian Renaissance Revival plant stand /pedestal with original surfaces and incised gilding … Read more Here is a scarce and extremely handsome antique Victorian Renaissance Revival plant stand /pedestal with original surfaces and incised gilding , measuring about 34” tall, about 15” square at base, retaining about 98% of its original varnished finish , with rich black enameled and gold contrasting trim . Two faces of pedestal are adorned with elaborate foliate marquetry while the other two sides display flaring handles ending in scrolled tips with floral bosses. This type of pedestal is rarely found with this much original surface. Apparently has been used as a plant/fern stand in its history as the top and base both display checking, separations, paint losses, wear, with top corners showing evidence of old repairs, losses, and re-gilding, as pictured. The bright gold incising appears to be the result of an older, rather informed restoration. This is in very solid condition, about 25 pounds unpacked, as pictured . Offered as found, as pictured.
