19th c Italian plaster relief, in the style of the Neoclassical period. The rectangle shaped relief features a design of a dragon and a bird, surrounded by foliage and leaves. The soft off-white plaster has patina due to age, as well as some loss to one corner (see photo for reference, bottom right). Cracks present, but structurally sound. Antique condition.
The piece could have originally been mounted inside a door frieze, a common way for the Italians to highlight and showcase their rich tradition of detailed craftsmanship.
This piece was included in the 2025 Flower Magazine Showhouse, in the dining room by Rachel Halvorson Design (see last photo for reference)
