From the estate of Pacific Northwest Antique Dealers and Collectors for over 60 years:
A charming and rare 1926 illustrated advertising booklet produced by the Bon Ami Company, titled “The Chick That Never Grew Up.” And, a wonderful, antique Easter die-cut featuring speckled eggs nestled among spring greenery and blossoms. Likely produced in the early 20th century using chromolithographic printing. A wonderful piece of seasonal paper ephemera, perfect for framing or display in a nursery or Easter vignette.
The lovely booklet is designed as a fairy-tale style children’s story, the booklet features beautifully rendered color illustrations of the iconic Bon Ami chick* alongside anthropomorphic rabbits, castles, rainbows, and domestic scenes — all promoting Bon Ami’s gentle, non-scratching cleanser.
The booklet is fully illustrated throughout and retains its original pages, with copyright dated 1926. A wonderful example of early 20th-century American advertising art that bridges the worlds of children’s literature and commercial illustration. A special Easter decoration ideal for framing, display in a nursery or playroom, or for collectors of vintage advertising, ephemera, and illustrated books.
*According to Bon Ami, "The little Bon Ami chick has been a part of our packaging and advertising since the late 1800s. A just-hatched chick became the perfect symbol for gentle Bon Ami because baby chicks don’t scratch for food like older chickens do. And we wanted to show that, despite our mineral ingredients and powdered form, Bon Ami is still a gentle cleaner and won’t scratch countertops or fine hard surfaces."
