'Arts of the United States', is a large coffee-table sized, 422-page book. It features more than 4,000 pictures of architecture, paintings, graphic arts, photography, decorative arts, sculptures and visual communications. Written and compiled by William H. Person and Martha Davidson, it was published in 1960 by McGraw Hill.. Starting with the 17th and 18th Centuries and concluding with the 20th Centuries, this is a full survey of Americana Arts from antiquities to modernism. There are also detailed essays, by experts on the designs and art for the 400 years covered. The small, 1.5" square black-and-white photos do not display well in this listing format, but in person, clean, bright and unmarked. This is basically an encyclopedia of Americana - design and arts. A great reference also for collectors, writers and historians. It's hefty hardcover in original duset jacket.. The dust-jacket is worn from handling, but intact..
