Constructed in solid mahogany with well-chosen flame mahogany veneers, the cabinet reflects the enduring influence of 18th-century English Chippendale design, interpreted in a later revival context. The cabinet is topped by a bold moulded cornice incorporating a continuous carved frieze of rosettes and scrolling foliage, centred by a carved floral cartouche. The façade is arranged with a central pair of astragal-glazed doors, the glazing bars formed as elongated ovals and intersecting arches—an elegant and recognisably Chippendale motif. To either side are paneled cupboard doors, each veneered in striking book-matched flame mahogany and framed by finely carved mouldings. The central glazed section opens to reveal fixed glass shelves set against a light interior back, creating a clean and effective display area for porcelain, glassware, or decorative objects. The flanking cupboards open to reveal fixed-shaped wooden shelves, providing substantial concealed storage. The cabinet stands on shaped bracket feet, united by a moulded base rail, lending visual weight and architectural balance to the piece. Finished in a deep, warm polish, the cabinet shows excellent colour, grain definition, and patina, with crisp carving and well-preserved surfaces throughout.
