The forms reflect Jouve’s iconic modernist language—elongated silhouettes, pierced voids, and a strong interplay of positive and negative space—while clearly reading as contemporary studio works rather than period originals.

Each sculpture is individually formed in black glazed stoneware and mounted on a square plaster base. Both bases are incised with an artist’s mark, consistent with studio production. The sculptural quality, weight, and matte black surface give the pair a refined, gallery-ready presence.
